Retired City Prosecutor shot dead in Ozamiz City

OZAMIZ CITY - A retired city prosecutor was shot dead by still unidentified assailants Tuesday morning, May 22, in front of the China Bank Branch in Ozamiz City.


The victim, Geronimo Marave Jr., 62, who retired from government service in 2017, is a resident of Barangay Catadman this City.



Police chief inspector Jovie Espenido disclosed that the victim obtained multiple gunshot wounds on the head and on his chest, which caused Fiscal Marave's instantaneous death.


PNP investigation further disclosed that the victim came out from the China Bank Ozamiz City branch located at Gomez corner Kaaminio Streets in the Poblacion barangay of 51th Barangay.  Upon maneuvering his white Fortuner, with plate number POY 485, out of its parking area, a single motor with two-riders, barged in to stop his vehicle.  One rider sprayed several bullets at the victims front windshield.

Recovered from the crime scene were some 14 empty bullet shells from a caliber .45 revolver, Chief Espenido said.

The victim was brought to a nearby Faith Hospital, but hospital authorities pronounced the former prosecutor dead upon arrival, Chief Espenido further said.
