First batch of 400 repatriated Kuwait OFWs arrive upon order of President Duterte

KUWAIT International Airport (12 Feb 2018) - Around 400 of our kababayans in Kuwait will be reunited in a few hours with their loved ones after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte ordered the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Labor and Employment to start to bring our workers there home.

The first batch of some 240 Filipino workers who availed themselves of the Kuwaiti Government's amnesty program left for Manila this afternoon via Philippine Airlines.

Shortly after, another batch left Kuwait for the Philippines on board two Gulf Air flights that transited through Manama.

More of our kababayans will be repatriated in the coming days by the Philippine embassy and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Kuwait. [Elmer G. Cato]
