Village, youth council bets asked to account for poll expenses or risk disqualification

WITH the proclamation of winners of the just concluded barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (village and youth council) elections almost through, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) called on all candidates to file their statements of contribution and expenditures (SOCE) not later than June 13, or risk being perpetually disqualified from holding public office.

Duterte names Virgie Orogo as DSWD Acting Secretary

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Virginia "Gee" Nazarrea Orogo as the new acting secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). 

Orogo's appointment papers were signed by the President on May 8, Tuesday, but released to the media only on Thursday, May 10.

MANILA - The Duterte administration is willing to shoulder the cost -- whatever it is -- to rehabilitate Marawi, Malacanang said Saturday amid reports that the market value of land in the city has skyrocketed.
