'Vote for the right person' -- Regencia

ILIGAN CITY - As the Barangay election is fast approaching, Mayor Celso Gomera Regencia calls Iliganons to vote for the right person for the right offices.


Mayor Regencia advises the people of Iligan not to vote for a businessman whose intentions are questionable.  Instead, vote for a person who can actually focus and perform duties from the heart.


"Kay kung naay negosyo, di gyud na ka serbisyo ninyo og tarong, kay mauna man gyud ang negosyo," (If one has a business, he won't be able to provide a good service, because he would always prioritize his business).

He said, "The local government has been reminding the people to follow what is right when it comes to voting."  It also emphasizes that vote-buying is punishable by law.  "Karong eleksyon, ang gusto unta nako nga tagaan nato og kagawasan ang mga tawo sa barangay nga mopili sa ilang kabubut-on, dili nang mopili kay naay nanampiling gihatag, naay bugas gihatag, naay corned beef gihatag," (This coming election, what I want is that we should give freedom to the people to vote, not that they would vote because there's cash given, rice handed over, corned beef disseminated), Regencia added.

"Dili ko gusto nga naay pinalitay, ang akong gusto katong tawo nga mo perform sa ilang trabaho diha sa ilang tagsa-tagsa nga mga barangay." (I don't want that there would be vote-buying involved).


I want that a person who would perform their tasks on their respective barangays.  He said he already instructed the city police to take this matter seriously and imprison those who will violate the law.

"Kinahanglan makadakop kita, ato gyud ning kasuhan" (We really need to catch someone, we would really prosecute them), Regencia said.  The police will be filing cases against those who will violate the law. 

The local government will be giving a reward of fifty-thousand pesos (P50,000.00) for every police officer who will be able to apprehend and would have actual pieces of evidence to show, while ten-thousand pesos (P10,000.00) for the informants.

"Manghinaut ko nga unta ang mogawas nga mananaug karon sa barangay nga maayo nga pinili sa barangay.  Ayoha pud ninyo og pili inyong mga opisyales, nakaila man gyud mo ana, barangay ra gud na," (I am hoping that those who would come out as the winner in the barangay [elections] is the best choice of the barangay.  Please choose them wisely.  You should know them, it is only a barangay after all), Regencia implored.
