Iligan City Mayor offers rewards to informants of terroristic activities

ILIGAN City (28 Feb 2018) - Iligan City Mayor Celso Regencia offers a cash reward of ten thousand pesos (Php10,000) to informants of any terroristic activities within the city.

After the Marawi siege, Iligan City has been rumored to become the next target of terrorism, the local government has been receiving reports that the ISIS-Maute terrorists are eyeing Iligan as the next target for terroristic attacks.

The local government has been closely monitoring several personalities and houses that could possibly be linked to the ISIS-Maute group.

In an intel report, it has been stated that the said terror group has been active in recruiting new members and forming alliances in this city and is planning to launch a violent attack.

"Dili ta mag-kompyansa" (We should not be unwary), Regencia was quoted by a Facebook page LGU Iligan City as saying.

Though the local government has been implementing strict security measures, Regencia still has to pursue security preventive plans and tasks.

Iligan is 38 kilometers away from Marawi City, and those intelligence reports are likely to happen if the local government would remain relaxed and easy-going.

Regencia has said that the safety of the City would not be based only on police capabilities alone, but also on how the people of Iligan would cooperate.

All of the mayor's actions and decisions are to prevent infiltration of the ISIS-Maute terror group in the city.

Police Senior Superintendent Leony Roy Ga, City police director said that the city police will be acquiring eight (8) 4x4 pickup's (Hilux) and several new guns and ammo.  This is in preparation for the campaign of the local government against terrorism.

The city mayor is positive that terrorism is unlikely to happen in Iligan City, however, the local government, police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines are working hand in hand to protect the welfare of the people of the entire city.
